Assigning Materials

Assign materials to building elements using the app’s 3-level material system.

The material assignment system has three levels:

Pre-select materials for the entire project in project mode.

  • Contains all materials available in project
  • Managed once at project level
  • See Material Shortlist guide

Set default materials for Walls, Floors, Ceilings, Doors, and Windows in room mode.

  • Choose from project materials
  • Applied automatically to room elements

Assign specific materials to individual elements.

  • Override room defaults when needed
  • Use the 3D model to select the exact element
  1. Navigate to a room
  2. Open the room materials screen
  3. The material shortlist opens with the title Materials in %@
  4. Set defaults for:
    • Walls (interior finish)
    • Floor (finish material)
    • Ceiling (finish material)
    • Doors (door material/type)
    • Windows (glazing type)
  5. For each element type:
    • Tap the element type
    • Select material from project materials
    • Use Set as primary in this room and onwards
  6. Tap Done when finished

Defaults apply automatically to all elements of that type in the room.

  1. Navigate to the room with the element
  2. Access the material assignment view for that element
  3. The assignment screen shows a scan preview at the top
  4. Tap to select an element in the preview
  5. Material assignment options appear
  6. Tap a material row from the project shortlist to assign it to the selected element
  7. Tap Done when finished

The material is assigned to that specific element.

The material assignment view includes a scan preview showing your building elements. After you select an element, the view lists matching project materials by section and shows the current room default with the Primary label.

For Walls:

  • Select the wall element in the 3D preview
  • Tap a matching wall material row to set an individual assignment

For Floors/Ceilings:

  • Select the floor or ceiling element in the 3D preview
  • Tap a matching floor or ceiling material row to set an individual assignment

For Windows/Doors:

  • Select the window or door element in the 3D preview
  • Tap a matching window or door material row to set an individual assignment

Individual assignments override room defaults:

  1. Room has a Wall default material
  2. Most Walls use this default automatically
  3. One Wall needs a different material
  4. Use the element material assignment screen on that specific Wall
  5. Assign the different material to the selected element
  6. That Wall now shows the individual assignment, while others still use the room default

When assigning materials:

  • Material name (from project materials)
  • A note with material specifications or comments
  • Determined by (how you determined the material)

Document how you determined the material:

  • Drill sample - Physical samples or core samples taken
  • Estimate - Inspection - Based on visual inspection
  • Homeowner - Information provided by property owner
  1. Open room’s material selection screen (room mode)
  2. Select element type
  3. Choose different material
  4. Use Set as primary in this room and onwards
  1. Open the material assignment view for the element
  2. Select the element in the 3D preview
  3. Tap a different project material row to assign it
  4. Tap Done when finished
  1. Open the material assignment view for the element
  2. Select the element in the 3D preview
  3. Tap the currently selected material row again to remove the individual assignment

Removing an assignment reverts to room default if one exists.
