Multi-Select and Batch Operations
The 3D viewer supports segment-based multi-selection. Use Shift in the 3D canvas or the filter list checkboxes to build a selection, then apply bulk actions to the selected segments.
Multi-select methods
Section titled “Multi-select methods”The 3D viewer supports multi-selection using the Shift key:
- Hold Shift: Enables multi-select mode
- Click elements while holding Shift: Toggles elements in/out of selection
- Release Shift: Returns to single-select mode
- Click empty space to clear selection
Additional selection methods are available through the filter list described below.
Selection scope
Section titled “Selection scope”Story and room selection
Section titled “Story and room selection”Stories and rooms can be selected as navigation context, but they do not automatically select every segment for bulk editing.
Use story and room selection to:
- Focus the viewer on a floor or room
- Show the matching details in the selection panel
- Navigate to the segments that belong to that context
Use multi-select or the filter list when you need bulk actions.
Segment selection
Section titled “Segment selection”Work with individual building element segments:
- Select a segment in the 3D view or details panel
- Hold Shift and select additional segments in the 3D view
- Or use the filter list checkboxes to select matching segments
- Use Select all to select all currently filtered segments
The filter list can narrow the list by Type, Material, adjacency, Room, Orientation, and Inclination.
Batch operations
Section titled “Batch operations”Bulk material assignment
Section titled “Bulk material assignment”Assign materials to multiple elements at once:
- Use the filter list to select multiple segments
- Check boxes next to segments, or use Select all
- Click Material in the selected-items action bar
- Choose the shared material
- The material is applied to the selected segments
Available bulk operations
Section titled “Available bulk operations”When segments are selected, the action bar shows:
- Material: Apply the same material to selected segments of a compatible type
- B-Factor: Apply the same B-factor/adjacency to selected segments
- Orientation: Apply the same orientation to selected segments
- Delete: Delete selected segments
Note: Inclination can be used as a filter, but it is not a selected-items bulk action.
Layer-based visibility control
Section titled “Layer-based visibility control”Use layer controls to focus the 3D view:
Layer categories
Section titled “Layer categories”- Open the layer controls from the layers icon
- Toggle note layers under Notes
- Toggle Show on model or Hide from model under Building elements
- Toggle other overlays such as projections, labels, and measured areas
List-based multi-selection
Section titled “List-based multi-selection”Filter list view
Section titled “Filter list view”Access the multi-select list:
- Enable multi-select mode
- Use the filter list to review matching segments
- Use row checkboxes to select multiple segments
- Perform batch operations from the selected-items action bar
Filtering and selection in lists
Section titled “Filtering and selection in lists”Apply filters to create selection groups:
- Type: Show a specific building element type
- Room: Show segments belonging to selected rooms
- Material: Find segments with specific materials
- Adjacency: Show segments by B-factor/adjacency
- Orientation: Show segments by orientation
- Inclination: Show segments by inclination
Then perform operations on filtered set:
- Assign new materials
- Update B-factor/adjacency
- Update orientation
Workarounds for multi-element tasks

Section titled “Approach 1: filter list selection”Use filters and Select all to build a segment selection quickly.
Approach 2: sequential single selection
Section titled “Approach 2: sequential single selection”For small numbers of elements, edit them one at a time:
- Select first element in 3D view
- Edit properties in right panel
- Navigate to next element using hierarchy or 3D click
- Repeat edits
Approach 3: tool-based editing
Section titled “Approach 3: tool-based editing”Use specialized tools that work with multiple elements:
- Split Tools: Split multiple elements in sequence
- Selected-items actions: Apply material, B-factor/adjacency, or orientation to selected segments
