U-Values

The Energy label section allows you to verify the thermal envelope and view specific data points. Use the following steps to access and review these details.

In Material Dropdown:

  1. Select element in 3D viewer or element list
  2. Properties panel displays on right
  3. Click Material dropdown
  4. Select a Material
  5. The selected Material details display U-value

In selected Material details:

  1. Select element in 3D viewer or element list
  2. Properties panel displays on right
  3. Selected Material information shows U-value

In export tables:

  1. Open the export pane tables for Elements or Windows and Doors
  2. The U column displays the final or assigned U-value for each grouped row

U-values cannot be edited directly on selected elements. To change an element’s U-value:

Option 1: Assign Different Material

  1. Select element
  2. Open Material dropdown
  3. Select Material with different U-value

Option 2: Create Custom Material

  1. Open Material dropdown
  2. Click Add a new material icon
  3. Enter Name
  4. Enter desired U-value
  5. Click Save
  6. New Material with specified U-value is assigned to element
  1. Select element to assign Material to
  2. Open Material dropdown
  3. Click Add a new material icon
  4. Add New Material dialog opens
  5. Enter Name (required)
  6. Enter U-value (required, numeric value)
  7. Material building element sub type is derived from the selected element when available; otherwise select it in the dialog
  8. Click Save

Material appears in dropdown with the specified U-value.

U-value not displaying

  • Check Material is assigned to element
  • Verify element is selected
  • Refresh the page

U-value shows as blank or 0

  • Material may not have U-value defined
  • Try assigning different Material
  • For custom materials, verify U-value was entered when creating

Can’t change U-value

  • U-value is property of Material, not element
  • Assign different Material to change U-value
  • Create new custom Material with desired U-value
  1. Navigate to Energy label
  2. Click Confirm that the thermal envelope is correct
  3. Click Show details
  4. Wait for U-value to display
